The Tutorial deals with a concept car created by Technicon itself. It will show the surface modeling of this car using videos in English language. The standards of the surface modeling used in the tutorial are Class A standards. The tutorial answers questions about strategic patch planning when doing modeling work. With this it’s more than a “press-the-button-tutorial”.
www.classasurfacing.com, an initiative of Adam O’Hern is a forum focusing (obviously) on class A surfaces. It’s not dedicated to AliasStudio, but it doesn’t matter, the goal is to understand how to build nice and clean surfaces.
www.classasurfacing.com is a new born and may need some more users and time to initiate intersting discussions but putting some free accurated tutorials online and offering the plateform to discuss of them is nice idea
… a learning resource for industrial cosmetic surface geometry creation. We’re in the process of creating lots of free tutorials on all aspects of the surfacing process, tools, and techniques, and we hope you’ll participate in the discussion! We’re just getting started, so be sure to let us know what you’d like to see!
Using the new simplemachines skin for the forum would be nice ( fresh and smooth design that is easy on the eyes)
Adam already make the effort to post video toin order to make topic discussion easier:
The tutorial is split into thirteen sections, each an hour long - that’s a massive thirteen hours of high quality learning in this tutorial.
I didn’t already purchase it, but no doubt sektor-41 might provide a high quality tutorial.
However, it would be nice to see with wich accuraty are managed the surfaces continuities.
As you can see this tutorial has a price: 49.95$
2009.03 UPDATE: Reading Sam and Wojciech comments (see below), who bought the tutorial, it seems that this tutorial is not a good buying recommendation (13 hours, no comments, not Class A surfaces,..)
2009.11 UPDATE: Sektor-41 website is down as mention ‘J’ in his comment.
In the last months I moved from Montreal, Quebec (Canada) to live in Barcelona, Spain.
Life brought me on others paths than the alias studotools world.
I’m now creating water features. Yes Water features! For any interested people… our website(under developement, available by mid-october 2008)
In order to keep online the few aliasstudio ressources and tutorials links I put together last year, this blog is migrating to a new url: http://aliasstudio.arnovillard.com
The blog still alive, even if i’m not bloging anymore.
If you have any comments or questions, don’t hesitate to leave replies, I’ll do my best to answer.
I received a few weeks ago an email from autodesk to let me know me about the ‘all-new AliasDesign Community’.
It has been more than a year since Alias was acquired by Autodesk this new website was highly expected.
The website interface clear, and clean!
Nothing really ‘fresh’ or new in the tutorials section but now users can contribute and add stuff themselves, which is a good way to build a ‘community’.
Here are some tutorials that retained my attention:
So far this blog has received 2869 visit (1810 unique visitor) coming from 78 counties! An average of 4:47 min by visit between the 28th of may (when this blog has started) and 31th of December 2007.
I must say I’m happy:) - 1810 people reading stuff around here (Even if 20 visits a day it’s not a big deal) It’s enough to keep me spending time once in a while to put online the tutorial and tips I find around the web.
The point that deceive me a little bit is that YOU ‘PEOPLE’ AREN’T COMMENTING MUCH and DON’T ALSO DON’T SHARE TIPS on this blog.
Many of you download everything that could be, but don’t give feed back. It would be nice for me but also for other visitors that want to learn.
How ever have a good time around here and hope you’ll find stuff to improve your AliasStudio level
The original tutorial is extracted from the 3D russian forum 3dcenter.ru (translated thread here)
This won’t be a school tutorial, many shape aren’t done with accuracy, but it’s a nice effort to share and a good way to see how a AliasStudio user approach the object.
I found this interesting ‘carbodydesign’ channel on youtube.
Not many Aliasstudio content in there, but some concept cars, interviews, clay modeling, and studios, things hard to see if you’re not working in there
You also can see here all their videos and titles
You can download here an ‘AliasStudio shaders official package’ (101 shaders / 1.21MB).
There no custom shaders in this zip file, only the ‘officials’ shaders available at the autodesk website… But it will avoid you downloading and classifying them one by one!
I initially download this package from…a website!…but I don’t remember which one. I’ve been looking around for the source link …But I’ve been unable to localize it: I’m sorry being unable to give credits for the one who did this small package.
